Have you ever hear of this man?  He passed away today.

He was very important in the Basque culture, a Linguist.

Do you know that the languages of the world are in jeopardy?

Texting is causing the ruin of the written language.

You lose what you don’t use.

I read an article about how young Asians are losing the ability to create from memory the characters of the written languages of China. The texting once again is the culprit. These same young people can select the correct symbols when shown a collection and prompted to select, but cannot recall these same characters simply from memory.

I have been trying to remember the name of the man that wrote so many books about the English language: Its exceptions, foibles and imperfections. I KNOW that I will remember his name the MINUTE I post this.

Rest in Peace Mr. Basque Linguist…

William Safire……I KNEW I would remember that name, sooner or later. Brilliant man!
